Reunion Athens 2004
It was a memorable reunion for everyone who attended! The event was held on Sunday 22 August from 14:00 to 17:00 at the Athens Tennis Club (The Visa Olympians Reunion Center), just a short walk from the 1896 Panathenaic Stadium. Members of IOAPA took turns welcoming the estimated 100+ guests to the reunion. It was exciting to see so many friends from around the world, some of whom we had not seen for years! Represented were Kostas Georgiadis (Dean of the IOA), lecturers, participants, and guests.
A special presentation was made to the (former) IOAPA President, Laurel Brassey-Iversen, for her years of dedication to the IOA, IOAPA, and the Olympic Movement. Laurel was a member of the 1980 USA women’s volleyball team that was not allowed to participate in the Moscow Olympic Games; however, she remained active in the sport and earned a place on the 1988 volleyball team which competed in Seoul, South Korea.
Good food, good drink, and good conversation made for an exceptional day in Athens! The warmth of the Greek sun matched the warmth of our enduring friendships.
